Default Spider Webs!!!! First one one the trail!!!

Hey Ya'll! Any thoughts on the spider webs when your the first one on the trail in the morning. I just finished a little section hike from Standing Bear to Hot Springs over the weekend and noticed how bad the webs were in the morning. I like to rock the trail early and usually am the first one on the trail. Used my hiking pole up in air out front to knock them down as we hiked, but that gets old fast. The SOBO are great when you pass one for they have knocked them down on the trail ahead. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the fall spider Webs? HIKE ON!!!!

P.S. Lots of cool hikers out this weekend, it was a nice crew this hike!

I eat a lot of spider webs. Not sure if they have any nutritional value or not.

a true outdoorsMAN would collect the webs, and use it as thread to stitch up gaping wounds and repair gear

Gotta love fall hiking. What I wonder is where they go when full winter sets in. Won't be long. Expecting snow here Friday.

Walked the Neusiok trail last week. About four miles was through weaver spider hell. Every twenty feet there was a huge web going across the trail.

Ooooh yeah. I've done day hikes where I HEAR the crackle of the web as I walk into it. I've had the big fat spiders on my head and running down my hiking poles. Of course I spend a few minutes doing the spider dance as I frantically swat at my head and shoulders and arms. I've finished hikes with the stickiness of many webs stuck to my hair. Creeps me out every time.

I suppose you all have heard this before but there is a name for the first person down the trail - it's "Webface".

We liked to call it "web blazing". When we would pass the first SOBO, we would thank them for clearing the webs in front of us. I'd sometimes put my polls in front of me and walk like I was playing invisible drums. Just something you have to deal with!

I am such a web blazer. Doesn't matter if the kids hike in front - they're too short. This just means I get them full in the face every time.

For a true Outdoorsman, a few strands of spider webbing equal dental floss and something crunchy to be added to wild mushroom and ramps soup. Gives it texture.

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Spiders on my high route trail in Thailand are a pleasure to see.
I've hit dozens of these with my face when bushwhacking on my hiking over there.

I must say though, they don't bite.
I have been bitten twice by brown recluse spiders here in the states.
Once on the AT, once on the PCT.
But never by these big boys in the jungle.

Spider webs. It's for breakfast. And. For dancing. To get them off you.

There's gotta be some LNT rule against breaking spider webs

I try this too but it usually doesn't work as I am taller than the average person.

I hate walking into those webs with the big orange/brown spiders in the morning. I know they are pretty harmless, but I can't stand it when one gets in my hair. Even after I am sure I got it off of me I'll think I feel something crawling on my head and do my frantic spider dance all over again.
