    Happy place:

And I'll see your happy marmot and raise you a happy porcupine. Sunbathing right in the middle of the trail.

Apologies about the above post ... not sure why my image got garbled like that, I've contacted the admins to delete it. It was a happy marmot sighting on the JMT.

A happy place (extra credit if anyone guesses the location)

how about a couple more happy thoughts!
I did 200 miles on the PCT in Wash state in Aug. I walked past a couple of places that looked like that.
Pain is a by-product of a good time.

I am almost certain that you walked down that slot following in the footsteps of Sierra Club expeditions. This is likely my absolutely favorite spot in the Sierra. How about another hint.

Hmmm.... Wonder how it would look in the winter?

    Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Don't think I will go there in the winter. Kendall's Catwalk would have an extreme puck factor with snow.

I have pics of the same memorial plaque and of Lake Marion virtually identical to yours. I was there only once though when thruing the Sierra High Route.

    Lake Marion.

There's a nice camping area/campsite on Lake Marion. That looks like where you took your pic from or perhaps at the outlet of Lake Marion which was clogged up with downed trees. I was there twice. Once on the SHR and on another Sierras trek.

I went out on that catwalk. If I remember correctly it isn't that long and I think it dead ended. That lake on the PCT is another one I remember going by.

The PCT goes directly over the Catwalk, unless I completely was misinformed. The Lake is the middle of the Kendall Peak Lakes directly south of the catwalk. While Marion Lake is tops for me in the Sierra, this area of WA maybe one of the tops in WA.

    change of topic.
Can my doggies play with your doggies?

My happy thought is every time I see pictures of Grayson Highlands. I was fifteen and my first 1/2 Arabian colt did not make it. Was a very sad time for me. Every time I see pics of the ponies in the G. Highlands I think maybe he is there waiting. Kind of a karma thing I guess and it makes me have a happy thought. Rolls
