Maybe this is old news at this point, though they didn't exactly advertise it, but Backpacker (as well as a bunch of other Outside-owned mags) are ending print production this year: https://thetrek.co/outside-ends-mont...7o2hhsh-gtqIoI

Backpacker was the first magazine I subscribed to as a kid hiking in the Daks and I've been a regular writer for them since college, so this wasn't easy to see. But with the amount the magazine has changed in that time, not exactly surprising either.

Anyway, because there's not really something else in print that's truly for backpackers, I decided to use my experience in the industry to try to fill that gap...in a different way, though: We needed something independent (now that we know what happens when VC and monopolies get a hold of these publications), coffee-table quality and collectible, printed on real paper, with a greater focus on design and photography, and way fewer ads, but with all the same kinds of great content. I thought the folks here would be interested in seeing that!
