I am staying at the Hiker Hostel in Georgia and starting the hike up to Katahdin on March 2nd. I am also doing the Approach Trail. My partner bailed out on me and I am looking for another person to hike with. If anyone is interested please let me know. Or if they know of any groups going or how to get in touch with something of the sort. It would be a shame to have to do this without sharing the experience.

It's a done deal. All my ducks are in a row, all of my gear is purchased and packed, and I embark on what I call my Fool's Journey on April 1st, 2011. I've been spending hours trying to estimate where I'll be and when, then decided to just throw the itinerary away and walk. Don't know where I'll be when I stop each day, but I've decided to relax and just let it happen. This will make mail drops and bounce boxes harder, so I welcome any advice anyone might have in this regard, but I just can't plan on hiking 15 miles a day every day. I want to plan ahead as much as possible because I have to get off the trail for 2 weeks in May, but I don't know where I'll be, so arranging flights is impossible. Guess I'll rent a car and drive back home to central Texas then. But I also don't know how to arrange kennelling my dog through the Smokies and again in Maine, since I don't know when I'll be there.
