    I don't here. But...
My favorite down garment for all but extreme conditions (like WAYYYYYYYYYYY below Zero), is a well made down vest. used with various layers under & a wind shedding layer over, a down vest is the lightest & most versatile insulating layer that I own.
    YMMV.

We got GoLite jackets on sale this Christmas. I've worn mine when walking to dog when it was 10 degrees out and been comfortable. I know it's warmer and lighter than my old 300 wt. fleece jackets which I used on the AT and CDT.

For longer distance hiking situations, this tends to describe me too. Even in camp I'm approaching warmth from a multi layering perspective rather than depending primarily on one apparel piece. I'm also usually in my sleeping bag/quilt within 15-20 mins of stopping hiking so I have less need for a heavy down jacket that I'm wandering around camp in. I typically hike 12-16 hrs at a time(in a day) so when the sleeping bag comes out I'm in it rather quickly. In winter situations when perhaps I'm not hiking as many hrs per day or when greater exposure is involved, like above treeline at higher elevs or in open windswept locations, I'll mid/outside layer(w/ a shell at the ready) with a Patagonia Down Sweater or Montbell UL Down Jacket. I really need to get a synthetic jacket of appropriate warmth for these conditions in some situations though. When REALLY COLD( -20*) I have a Primaloft Belay Jacket. I have hardshell and softshell ArcTeryx Jackets that can go over the Belay Jacket that can take me down to about -50 although I've never gone below -20(without the wind chill factored in) with any regularity on a multi overnight hike.

If the price pts for the Outdoor Gear recs are a bit steep for you there are similar sub $150 options. That review was done over a yr ago too so you might be able to snag say a last yr's model/discontinued color MH Ghost Whisper for under $200

    Searching my memory banks further...
My down vest has also been worn under my Michelin Man L.L. Bean down winter parka. Along with everything else I could put on during several winters in Kazakstan down to -34F or C, same temperature.
Bottom line: A good down vest is worth its' weight in gold.
One more thing: Any down garment requires a windproof shell over it to perform as intended.

I made my own. Great quality, great price, great fit.

Good DWR on the outer shell fabric and/or Dri Down/Down Tec can also be useful particular in the humid east coast or wet Pacific Northwest or on extended winter hikes.
