If you go wiyh the BV take along an old credit cardor something similar like and old gift card is what i use put it over the tab and its easy to open. The card will allow the lid to roll past the locking tab without having to press it down, which can be difficult.
Don't worry about it, just do all you can and let the rough end drag.

I carried a BV-450 & it worked great in my Go-Lite Jam (medium) Once you grab your resupply at VVR or MTR thing will get a little cramped & when I left MTR myself & most ppl have some of my food outside the canister that wouldn't fit, so you can either eat really well that night or hang it for a night or 2

that will be really tight for the last SOBO stretch, won't it? Even keeping one day out (more than that is illegal...), that would still be 6-7 days in a small canister unless you can resupply somewhere in the southern half, like Kersage pass or something. We did the southern half in one resupply stretch, fairly fast paced, 7+ days including hiking down from Whitney to the portal, I managed to thoroughly pack my BV500 tight and just barely made it. YMMV of course! For 8 ounces saved, it's a tough call, but the larger BV500 also makes a much better "chair" around camp.

Has anyone managed to fit a BV500 into a GoLite Jam 50 (md)? I have a fairly light pack but I'm taking a Big Agnes UL2 so its kinda bulky..

My backup is my trusty Granite Gear, plenty of room but heavier.
