    Default Baatany Project 2014

Its that time of year again...When you will here that lovely sound of "Baa" on the Roan Highlands. Yes. The ever popular Baatany Project is heading back onto the balds on June 25th.

If you haven't heard about it, its an invasive vegetation cutback project. The goats will be staying on the balds for the summer, and do their own style of maintenance..."EATING." The goats will be munching on the fast growing invasive weeds and brush from taking over the open balds.

This year the Baatany Project is asking volunteers to RSVP for their attendance.

    RSVP and Herding details/rules:
    Go to http://baatany.org/
RSVP your attendance by Sunday June 22 to [email protected]

I was planning to be up there from the 25th to the 27th. If I can alter my plans to arrive early enough I will volunteer. That will be fun.

That's about the best way to protect the balds w/o using any petroleum products. Well they do have to truck the animals up there but their cut is much closer than any bushhog. Also any methane released by them should be minimal....
