Adding Measuring Marks?

I have two pots from GSI, the Glacier Dualist and Glacier Mug/Pot -- unfortunately neither have any measuring marks on them. I tried etching (http://tinyurl.com/o9qpxuo) but my big mitts can't get the cup taped off to where it would look good... Anyone have experience with stamping or other ways?

Put in a known amount of water, then put the handle of your spoon into it. Mark the spoon.

i just scratched in two marks for 1 cup and 2 cup. no numbers just marks. i guess the rest.

use a cheap steak knife and mark on the outside (or handle) a small mark. you don't need to go deep.

I most often pour into my pot out of a Nalgene bottle, and use the measuring lines on the bottle. I still remember how to subtract.

I have a Sea to Summit Delta Mug for coffee and tea. It has markings so it doubles as a measuring cup.

I carry a Ziploc with premeasured lines written on the outside with a sharpie to use as a measuring cup. Weighs nothing, and always nice to have a spare Ziploc.

I wrote on the outside of my Pinnacle Dualist with a sharpie--a line and a number at 1 cup intervals. Close enough. It works. But now I have a small collapsible silicone cup (sea to summit) and it has markings so you can measure then pour into the pot.

My coffee cup holds 8 oz. Close enough that I can guess the rest.

Take a carpenter nail, and Hammer. Tap nail on flat concret with hammer. Put hammer away. put a cup, cup and a half and 2 cups of water in the mug. taking the nail and a light weight, (possibly the hammer) and ding some horizonal lines into the mug.

Clamp engraver to wood to table. Determine where mark should be by filling pot to level desired, use tape measure and then use a sample piece of metal to check height for desired level. Adjust height of engraver by shims or thicker piece of wood. Engrave sample twice, pot once. Push pot into bit and turn.
