    Default starting points?

Planning caver's gap to 19e in june. Seeing alot of Rhododendron stuff end of june, would we better to take do this beginning of june? Have been looking at using the hostel in the area and found that its $40 to the trail head at carver's gap. Well its only $15 to Buck Mountain, Walnut Mountain or Forest Service Road 293. Were planning a 3day so I know we will have plenty of time, was just wondering if it was much more of a walk from any of those areas? are they part of the AT? Will be grabbing a map this weekend at REI so maybe that will help anyway.
