Default Shoes similar to Vasque Velocity

I like the Velocity but they have changed the style around the lacing to a leather strip up the shoe, this irritates my first metatarsal. i.e there used to be more mesh and lace tabs, Do they now have another shoe similar to the Velocity.I cannot get them in the UK so need to know what to order. I have also contacted Vasque for their views.

Here I was thinking that I was the only person who liked the Vasque Velocity! I recently replaced my 4+ year old pair and had some difficulty finding a replacement that I liked. So far the closest I've come are LaSportiva Wildcats. I've been using them for about a month, they have a fairly similar fit, are well ventilated, dry fast and have an aggressive grippy tread (though not as good as the amazing grip that my old Velocities had.)

I had also tried the Vasque mind-bender, but unfortunately I found the fit around the heel much looser that the other Vasque shoes I've owned, and even though they were mesh they had some sort of inner lining which made them unbearably hot. For these two reasons they were returned.
    Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.

Vasque suggest their Pendulum shoe, any one tried those hiking.

Even though I just recently blew out the side of my La sportiva wildcats, I'd consider another pair...very comfortable shoe and a good fit for me.
