    Talking Best Quotes for Hiking

There are some good quotes that people are using with signatures. John Muir seems pretty popular though I can't say I've ever read anything by him. Lets see what people can come up with which are hiking related. You may just find your next quote here.

    "Why I Hike"

I walked in the mountains today,
    My heart found beauty,
    My mind found freedom,
    And my soul found peace.
"He was a wise man who invented beer." Plato

"I had better admit right away that walking can in the end become an addiction, and that it is then as deadly in its fashion as heroin or television or the stock exchange. But even in this final stage it remains a delectable madness, very good for sanity, and I recommend it with passion." (Colin Fletcher, The Complete Walker)

"When the virus of restlessness begins to take possession of a wayward man, and the road away from Here seems broad and straight and sweet, the victim must first find in himself a good and sufficient reason for going. This to the practical bum is not difficult. He has a built-in garden of reasons to choose from." (John Steinbeck)

"The swiftest traveler is he that goes afoot." (Thoreau)
