Smith! A very common name and one of the 1000's that hiked the AT. No one super special. Most likely a one-hit wonder.

    Default long way to go

I started reading this thread from the beginning last night, although I followed it off and on before. 100 posts last night, 100 tonight, so I'm at Mile 201. I start getting tired at around 50 posts. Will I ever catch up? It might be quicker to complete a thru-hike.

Airdrops cost about 900 bucks each, and they're the only really practical way to resupply if I take the route north of the Brooks. Going south of the Brooks Range has some towns, but the terrain is wetter.

You shouldn't form opinions just because Jack and TJ don't like Warren.

It's not just the local hiking club here that's mostly fogies. My mother's church is the same way, judging from what I saw when I attended it with her about 11 months ago, with lots of empty pews to boot. Of course, it is a highly liberal one, with a woman pastor and no real position on pastors being active homosexuals. The conservative one I go to when I'm in my parents' town is disallows both, and it is bursting at the seams with members of all ages. Run the trends out 20 years, and one of them will be sold at sheriff's auction, while the other one looks for even larger quarters (it's about 10x as big as the first one right now).

I don't care for the man based on his own words and admissions. My position that he's been a net negative for the AT (and ideally would be put under a lifetime restraining order to have nothing else to do with it due to morals issues) is not based upon copying Jack's opinions. As you know, I have a lot of respect for Baltimore Jack as a hiker and as a friend to hikers, but if I disagreed with him on something, I'd still feel free to say so on WB, as is right.
