Anybody else have visions of this 'thing' we call The Thread morphing into the Matthewski update in '07?

Minnesota Smith could wake up every morning at 6:00 AM and give us two or three posts about how he'd rather be hiking with mweinstone and that mweinstone is a thru-hiking god and there will be no bears and the IRS thinks Matt is on the PCT so they'll never find him and MS will spend his evenings defending Matthewski against scurrilous ******* accusations made on the thread against Matt by vicious Thead detractors and assorted trolls that don't get it.

    That'd be poetic.

No, it should stay the tightly focused forum it has always been.

OK, here's my analogy for The Thread. Keep in mind that I grew up in a very small town. The Thread reminds me of the pot bellied stove in the corner store, where a local boy has moved away to college and the old guys sit around the stove and discuss whether he's gonna make it. Other side conversations pop up, but the reason for going to the store is "checking on MS". When he finally makes it, folks have enjoyed sitting around the stove, so they keep coming back. Its a time-honored tradition played out in cyberspace.
A bad day on the trail beats a good day most anywhere else.

OK, I will be the first to lay down my bet on this one. Matthewski if you complete a thruhike next year I will meet you at the finish to deliver your "bottle of something shinny."

i like to have all that stuff too matt, but i'll usually settle for just the roadhead and six beers.

I've already promised him I'd drive up and slackpack him some during his thruhike. Oh, and Matthewski is a darned good hiker as well as an incredible human being.

Combine MA, CT, NH,and VT into one state, at the very least for purposes of U.S. Senate representation. They're all too small areally to justify being separate states. What did some Northern wag say about SC just before the War for Southern Independence, that it was "too small for a republic, and too large for a lunatic asylum"? Analogous situation IMO.

{{{ MS }}} I only photoshop the ones I love Sorry, I know the concept morph'ed a bit... I couldn't find suitable images for the original idea.

May I ask the manufacturer and model of your sleeping bag? The male dino's mother told me years ago that he was allergic to down so I've never used it in any of our common gear.

He told me yesterday he is not allergic to down {bleep}. I put a down comforter from one of the guest rooms on our bed last night just to be sure (as my beloved MIL was sharp as a tack until the day she thru-hiked thru the pearly gates)
