Epic is a silicone impregnated fabric. Silicone caulk thinned with mineral spirits would be the seam sealer of choice.Originally Posted by mweinstone

the seams are sealed. i need to re treat the fabric with a spray or wash.
what you thinkin?

you shouldn't need to re treat sil. impregnated fabric. is it leaking?Originally Posted by mweinstone

im useing a winter bivi made by black diamond. its made of EPIC fabric.it is an unhooped envelope with a zipper opening. its seams were sealed with seam sealer. they are fine. the bivi sac is four years old and it is not as water resistant as it used to be. if you pour water on it it beads. if you wait longer, it soaks thru. i know how good it can be and its not up to snuff. black diamond said i must re coat the fabric with a spray. what spray is the question.

they said they THINK its a nikiwax product but they were wrong. they also said that the right spray will say its for EPIC.

Try a common silicone spray on a small(very small) section of fabric to see if it performs.Originally Posted by mweinstone

From Nextec's website...

They don't recommend treating it with any product. Instead, washing it is the way to get it back up to snuff.
Also, EPIC isn't a waterproof fabric but a water repellant one... it won't keep water out forever.
Don't take anything I say seriously... I certainly don't.
good link guy.so i washed it lots of times in washers. its lable says to. so now i know i need to buy a new one. thank you mother dances for giving birth to you!
