That's my dog, Echo. He's a fine young dog.
That is cute! Thanks for sharing!

15lbs!! Holy crap that's a big cat! You're right, smart bear!
Cute photo.
That cat must feel some proud.
The size difference between Bear and Cat reminds me of the time I had to run from a nasty tempered hen Partridgeprotecting her brood of young ens.
She would have pecked my eyes out had I hung around.

Fifteen pounds isn't so much. I have a 22 pounder without claws and he'd eat that bear as a mid day snack. My 110 pound Lab/Mastif is deathly afraid of him. It's all about attitude.
do bears have bawls? i mean, if you kick a 200lb man's bawls hard enough, guranteed he leave you alone and cry in pain.
lol great photo
I've always said that black bears were just like big black hampsters![]()

Utah has some raging hamsters, then. I seem to remember some footage of a black bear hunting a guy floating down a stream in AK. Due respect.
Speaking of black bears in Utah - I just saw on the news yesterday that a black bear killed an 11 year old boy who had been camping with his family. The bear went into the boy's tent and dragged him out of his sleeping bag. It didn't go into specific details but I have to wonder if the boy had food in his tent with him... Sad. I hate to hear about these things...
We know of various ways to keep bears from our campsites - hanging food and trash, keeping food out of our tents, etc.
But how do we protect ourselves from cats? What do we do if we're in a shelter full of mice and a cat walks in?

A girl in Pa was also dragged from her tent on a Girlscout
camping expedition a couple weeks ago but she survived
unharmed. The good news is that that AT bears don't know
anything about these other bears and their predatory behavior
so they are still not a threat to hikers on the AT.Let's just
hope they don't find out!![]()

Keep on keeping on.
the article mentioned, it was a popular campsite. Even if this boy did not have food in his tent, Sloppy campers have could been spilling food on this site for a while. I am much more worried about bears in crowded, popular areas, than I am in wilderness areas.
