Default best hiking thru 10/15 thru 10/30?

im looking for advice from some of you fellow trail rats on where to hike during that two week stretch[10/15 thru 10/30] that i have..
i would like to hike any part of the AT. the best scenario would be the best average temps and some really nice views. i am from the northeast so i would prefer any suggestions south of connecticut and north of hot springs. i can travel to whatever location i choose.i have never been to grayson highlands, would this be an acceptable location?
also what is your favorite stretch of the AT?? pea ce out , nitewalker

Shenandoah -- Great views, and the temperature will probably stay above 50F during the day and 30F and night.

My memory of the AT south of Pearisburg is kinda hazy, so I'll second the vote for Shenandoah.

Do the White Mountains in New Hampshire, starting near Glencliff off of 118 and end on Rt 2 near Gorham. It is about 160 miles and you can easily do it all in your time frame and it you have some extra time, go into Maine and tackle the mahoosuc notch. You will get all the fall colors, peaks above the treeline through out the hike, and maybe some snow on the 13 miles above the treeline on the presidential range. What more could you ask for.

For sure, but the OP asked for suggestions "south of CT and north of Hot Springs." That covers a lot of ground but not New Hampshire.

I liked Roan Mtn and the bald region in NC / TN - though I did do it in snow.

PA should be pretty that time of year.
    Don't take anything I say seriously... I certainly don't.

The main pack of SOBOs will be hitting Tennessee/North Carolina during this time. Depends if you want to hike with them or have the trail to yourself.

Its been a bit hot and dry here in Tennessee. We are getting some small rain systems, and highs have been going up and down from 70s-90s. The mountain tops have been the dryer of the spots for water.

Temps have been WAY ABOVE normal, and we're still lot drier than we should be...plan on carrying extra water down here; almost all of the ridgetop springs are dry.

That having been said, I've been out on some sections between Rausch Gap shelter and Lehigh Gap over the last two 2 weeks - it's starting to look like Fall.

If you think you might want to hike Pennsylvania's A.T. north of Susquehanna River, please refer to the WhiteBlaze thread DRY, DRY, DRY in Pa. for pertinent information.

thanks for all the advice on where to hike. i am still up in the air on where i will be going. my first thought was to catch up with some of the sobo's but im not sure if i want to drive that far. i may try and do the ct/ny section for my hike. these are 2 sections that i have not traveled yet..i will let you all know where i will end up going be4 i leave..for all i know i may try and hookup with zero in maine if he is still out there.. i am very flexible with my schedule. i will take it one day at a time and weather will be a deciding factor on where i end up........peace out, nitewalker

I vote for The Great Smokies. SNP is nice but its got nothing on the Smokies. Upper VT, The Whites, and Maine rocks of course, but thats much chillier and not what he asked.
