    Default December Backpacker

    Anyone see it yet?

They interviewed me on film stuff in the outdoors and I havent seen it yet.,..cant find a Backpacker magazine in Iowa anywhere.

This is the second thing they did with me this year...the medical study was in the August issue and this...but they still wont put my website in the articles...I dont get that.

So, if you have seen it, tell me what it says...please...as I dont know when I will see it...if ever....

I have the December edition - there is an article entitled: Be a YouTube Star. Would that be it?

Hey Lion King, you gonna continue your hike on through the winter? I'm looking in the story section right now to see if there is an article on you? Nothing as far as I can tell. I'll look through the mag to see if they got a story on you...

Hey Lion King. Tried to sign your journal after the gathering and it wasn't letting me. Good seeing you and loved the PCT flick. Hope the hike is going swimingly. Nothing in this months backpacker as far as I can find.

Mentioning Backpacker mag, there is a pretty interesting article about the JMT. I don't normally read the mag but I happened to pick up a copy. 4 of their writers attempt the JMT in a week, doing 30 miles a day. Good ultralight gear info too.
Anything's within walking distance if you've got the time.

    Hey LK

In the last issue of BACKPACKER there was a few pages on going ultralite. They mention you and there is a quote from you regarding how to store your camera and extra batteries. Something about carrying film eqipment in a kayaking style dry bag?? That was the only thing I saw. I believe that was the last issue, I just moved so I may be behind one but I think that's it.

On a personal note I check your site nearly every day and read your latest journal on my lunch. Keep on truckin!

I saw the article that Tin Man refers to LK. It mentions you and give you credit for several pieces of advice to readers. I enjoyed the article alot as you know I film my hikes as well. Good for you getting a mention out of it as well. fyi....that issue of Backpacker is my alltime favorite issue.

Thanks! I aprecaite you reading and watching!

Should be some new vid clips up soon (The next few days)..new being from Ohio/IN/IL even though I am in Iowa and soon will be in Nebraska...well, if the winter dont kill me before I get to Denver.

It just takes time for me to mail the tapes out, for my bud to edit them and upload them.

I did some filming at the Gathering so I hope some of that and some of the Gettysburg stuff goes up.

I got a great shot of Lone Wolf, Sgt Rock and someone else complaining about the stories around the fire. I kid Wolf, I kid.

Does anyone know EXACTLY where Lion King is? I would like to step up some magic through some friends, but I need to know if he is still in the area of where they live or not!

I just did a 18 mile day from Hudson Iowa and I am in Grundy Center Iowa on 175(Main STreet)

Ill be around Beaman sometime in the early afternoon as it is 13.2 from here...and maybe in Conrad Iowa for the night which is about 17.6...depends on if it is all road walking or not. But Conrad would be nice for a sleep.

Im in a Family's home who met me on the Pioneer trail today, and as I walked into town, they just happend to be in their car at a red light as I got to the same intersection.

    Providence rocks.

    PS

Obama is going to be here today, so I may stick around and check out his talk, its at 5:15...which means if I stay here all day, I will be here tonight...trying to make a choice about it right now. SNow is coming on Wednesday so I shouldnt waste a lot of time.

If they will let me film, Im staying.

Yeah man, stick around. Maybe you can get Obama's views on trails, NP's, NF's and the environment.

    The trail will wait.

    Damn right.

Im here. It snowed a little anyway...I was seriously going to leave as I didnt have quite the funding to stay in town, although its only a 3000 pop. town with a 60$ hotel, but I am budgeted tightly, but out of nowhere, this Family who saw me eating breakfast happened onto me as a cop was going to give me a ride to the Fairgrounds to camp and they insisted on buying me a room since they were staying here to and they wanted pictures with this freak(Me) and their kids...again, its as if it is meant to be.

My question basically will be what he is willing to do to protect our wildlands and trail systems, etc...and maybe what 'brand' of Weed he smoked when he did smoke in College, then I will await them to toss me out.
