    Default NJ Bearhunt

New Jersey had its first black bear hunt in 33 yrs yesterday. On opening day 61 bears were taken with the largest weighing in at 498 lbs. after field dressing. The scheduled 6 day hunt is expected to reduce the estimated bear population of 2000 to 3000 by approximately 500 bears.

Its about time they decided to use wildlife management and control the population. As most know the New Jersey bear population was way out of hand. This will mean less nuisance bears and a healthier population, sometime humans need to step in to make matters better.
