    Default dryer sheets

A couple of days ago I was getting all of my backpacking stuff out and starting to get ready for this sping and summers trips. When I remembered I put a bounce dryer sheet in the bottom of my sleeping bag last fall, because after hiking all last year and also on the A.T. the year before my bag is getting wore out and kinda stinky. But I love my sleeping bag and until it just falls apart I will keep using it. But the dryer sheet made it smell so nice I just had to get in it right then. So I think that I am going to start leaving a dryer sheet in the bottom of my bag while I am out hiking. Has any one ever done this before or have I made a huge discovery?

Lone wolf you are a legend all the way out here in colorado. When me and my buddies met you at neels gap and you offerd us a couple of PBR's two years ago when we were passing though we all just look at your posts as a great way to remember that its just hiking and having fun. When then talk about the posts and laugh. Its funny how you can get people so pi**ed and my buddies and I know that you are sitting at home laughing at them.

PBR! They still make that stuff?! Think I'd rather chew on a dryer sheet. LOL
Tomorrow might just be too late and today is just beginning.

Lots of perfume in a drier sheet, how do you think a bear will like the smell of your pack or sleeping bag?

Oh I don’t know, take an interest in the pack or sleeping bag that smells so nice…

Hopefully no one would be in the bad while he’s taking this interest.

I’m not a bear expert, I have run into 2 of them while backpacking, one was on a trail 50 feet in front of me; he looked at me and walked off with no interest at all. The other was when I woke up and found bear tracks outside a tent I was sleeping in.

How about washing the bag? Dryer sheets are nasty. But, I guess, your feet will smell good. You did say you put the sheet in the bottom of the bag?

    Default and the answer is...

So... is that a no-go on using dryer sheets, because it might attract unwanted attention?

I put a dryer sheet in a bag with my shirt, it helps with the stink after hiking all day and I can wear the shirt the next day w/o gagging from my own clothing funk

I remember some hot chick had a booth in the mall in Davenport, IA handing out papers that said how many carcinogens are in dryer sheets, etc. etc. so I tried being very interested in that topic but it didn't work.

Now we have them in cubby corners in our cabin supposedly as a mice retardant. Maybe it makes them smell better or something.

Seems to me that as a mouse deterrent using mouse traps would be a lot quicker than trying to give the mice cancer.
