    Default Hagerstown to Front Royal

Trying to figure out the details for a Section hike in the latter part of April. My plan as it it sits right now is to leave my car up in Hagerstown MD. Not sure where yet. Then get down to the trail near Front Royal VA and hike north back up to my car. Problem is that I am not seeing anything in terms of like bus transport down to that area. Anyone have any ideas or done this before? Dates that I am looking at are to leave the Car early on the am of the 19th.

I tried to get bus service forthe section North of Hagerstown and found out that the route from Hagerstown was discontinued. My guess is that immediately south of Hagerstown there is no longer bus service.

I followed the link and still it looks like there is no public transport way to get from MD to VA. It just amazes me with I-81 running right there. If anyone one has info on how I might get down to the trail near Front Royal from the Hagerstown area please post.

Here are a couple of folks I've used for shuttles:

    Sawbriar’s A.T. Shuttle Service
    Middletown, MD
    (301) 371-4945

    Michael Gelinas
    Harmony Hall School House
    Carlisle, PA
    (717) 249-3718

Michael is a very reliable shuttle (and answers the phone Harmony Hall School House to keep the telemarketers away), and Sawbriar is local to the Hagerstown area. Good luck.

I can give you a ride down to Front Royal. That's a nice little section for a spring hike. Keep me posted if your schedule or plans change.

I used Sharon Johnson as a shuttler near Front Royal. She's on the ATC shuttle list. She charges one dollar a mile. This was earlier this year. She and her husband are a nice couple.
