I am not going to ask the stupid question -how long will it take me. I am asking how long did it take you and will make my own decision from your answers. Thanx

I left Springer on December 30, 2005 and passed throught Hot Springs March 17th, 2008. So, about 2 1/4 years for me.
By the way, the Paddler's Pub was a great way to wash the trail dust out of my throat. I highly recommend their draft selection.
I'm currently thru hiking. I left approach trail on 5/4. Had I not sprained my foot in the Smokies, I'd be in Hot Springs tomorrow night (5/24). I arrived at Standing Bear Farm early yesterday, which is 32 miles south of HS.
Hope you have a great time. Happy Hiking![]()
Toolumpy are you thru-hiking, section hiking, first time, seasoned hiker? 14-19 days to fontana 21-28 days to hot springs. ...have a great hike...
Took me 22 days from Amicalola to Hot Springs with no zero days.
It took me 16 hiking days to Fontana, and if able to continue through the Smokies most likely another 6 if no stoppping at Newfound Gap. Then maybe 2 more to Hot Springs. This does not include the zeros at Hiawassee or in Franklin.
So I'd say about 25-30 with no zeros. This all depends on physical conditioning, weather, and other pertinents, and what you want to do when you get into towns. I would highly recommend taking the zeros for your body to do a little recooperating.
When I started, it was slow going for the first few. Then I built endurance. By no means did I find my "hiker legs" in that short 162 miles to Fontana, but felt pretty good, and hiked strong.
Enjoy yourself and the views.

I section hiked that in about 25 days a few years before my thru-hike. Was a SOBO, and was in full haul-butt-and-get-done mode coming down, but can't remember how long that took (something like 20 days, plus taking some time off at Christmas and getting snowed in at Fontana)
25 days including 4 zero days.
25 days with two zeros. Have a great hike, slow down, enjoy it.
Thanx for all your answers. I have hikes the Smokies numerous times and am in good shape and am able to hike hard and fast. Just have about 28 days so it should not press to much. Thanx Toolumpy
