I'm returning to Delaware Water Gap to finish the section in a couple of weeks and would like to spend the night in the Hostel. Anyone been there lately? Anything I need to know? All replies appreciated and thank you in advance. Regards Elray.

"every day's a holiday, every meal a feast"
Great place. It's open year-round. Very friendly place, very easy-going. Just obey their few (and quite reasonable) rules, and don't arrive by car as vehicles aren't welcome on the property. Any problems or questions, call Pastor Karen at (570) 476-0345.
Elray,
What section are you going to do? Let me know if you need any help while you are in the area.
I live right along the AT 24 miles South of Delaware Water Gap, at Smith Gap Pa. - See your ALDHA-Companion, Appalachian Pages, or The Thru-hiker Handbook.
PS
DO NOT go out to eat at nearby restaurants in DWG, and bring back leftover food to the hostel in disposable containers. The trash and recycle really can pile up fast, and the church must pay big $$$ for disposal.
#1 rule at the hostel, is to dispose of large amounts of cardboard containers - Pizza Boxes, ....etc..... ELSEWHERE.
Good Luck, and "Have A Safe Hike!"![]()
Dude, they are freaking awesome. Try to get there on a Thursday. That's when they have their hiker-feed (if they're still doing it this late in the year.)
I'm hiking north to Bear Mountain which will complete the whole midsection of Trail for me, from the Maine Junction in Vermont to mid Virginia. This is my eighth year on the Trail as I'm only able to get over there for a week at a time but with a little luck and the tremendous support of the Good People on this web site I have every intention of doing a thru when I'm done working. Thank you for the tips and the encouragement, see you out there!
