Sounds like this is the same guy who said his food and water was stolen a few days ago. Too bad he had to be resuced off the trail, at least he gave it a try.

Good heavens. I picked him up near Hogpen Gap with the same problem having been treated locally by emts overnight as someone took his food. I took him to the Blueberry Patch in Hiawassee. I had previously retrieved him from Hightower Gap with the same hypothermic symptoms and in diabetic stress. Each time he reassured me he was not getting back on the trail this year.

Sarge, I love you but go home and get your dog and do the little sections you promised me you were going to do!

Yeah, I hate to say it, but if there is a pattern of ill health here involving blood sugar levels it's very possible he misplaced his foodbag.

my sugar is 37 this morn. some with reactive hypo would be grumpy, ive learned not to kill till my crap rises. i never get above 90. ever. and my foodbag being my life, i dont play. as far as him misplaceing food, i doubt it very much. stolen is stolen and misplaced is misplaced and senile is personal. sarge, try again with more planning. and dont leave your testing equiptment and glucose in the food bag. carry them in your undys warm so the meter works.

Good thing he did not make it to New Hampshire. They might have sent him a bill for the rescue

Too bad though if he was just a victim of bad circumstance....sounds like he really needs to get his diabetes in control before taking on big undertakings. IMHO.

HUH? What's up with that? Could that be a vagrant waiting until people are asleep to take their supplies?

If it really is a problem, a local may want to put a food bag out that may or may not have curry and cayenne powder mixed into all of the food in large tast bud murdering amounts.
