    Default how far is it?

can anyone tell me how many miles it is from the baxter park boundry (abol campground) to the start of the 100 mile wilderness? and is there a marker or something so you know when you are entering that area, what is the last "place" before you go into the wilderness? Thanks

Pretty dang close. Once you leave Golden Road you are there. Maybe .2 miles or something.

You cross the West Branch on the Penobscot on Aboll Bridge and the trail after the bridge almost immedieately turns south. Almost immediately you will see a sign proclaiming the so called "wilderness."

The name was set by a former editor of the MATC Guide to the AT in Maine to call attention to the lack of easy resupply for the nest 100 miles. Since then White House landing has emerged as a partial resupply point, but the name persists. The landing is locared a mile off the trail 25 or 30 miles south of Abol Bridge.

    Weary
