I don't think so. I usually hear mid April. But call the Nantalhala forest office in Franklin for an exact date. Ron Haven will know the closest accessible trailheads. Winding Stair and Wallace

You may have to park down at the campground and hike up to Deep Gap.

This is a good idea - Kimsey Creek Trail is a great blue blaze.

I did call and the road will not be open until around April 1st. I plan on parking at the Campground and going down Kemsey Creek Trail to Deep Gap and on up to Standing Indian Mountain. I am thinking this will be about a six mile hike. Is that about right?

Note to flair4040...you'll be hiking up a very wet Kimsey Creek Trail this time of year with the present trail conditions. Have a nice hike.
