Default Where to Camp Near PenMar

A friend and I are planning to attempt to hike all of Maryland in a day later this Spring. As I understand it, camping is not permitted in PenMar Park, and Maryland does not allow 'dispersed camping' (camping outside of established campsites). The regulations in Pennsylvania depend on what type of land you are on (State Forest, State Park, etc), and the nearest shelter is miles from the Maryland border.

We would like to camp as close to the state line as possible, but don't want to end up in trouble with any park rangers or other officials.

What's the best place to camp near PenMar park, so that we are close-by and can get an early start?
A fair hiker, but a little unbalanced.

There are some campsites near a stream maybe a half mile north of the park. Cross RR tracks and head down a hill on the AT. You will see obvious campsite just before the stream crossing and there are many more further off to the right. You can get pizza delivered to the park but you have to pick it up at the gate.

I've simply pulled up after dark on several ocassions and slept in the back of my truck. A park employer comes by around 7:30 AM and opens the bathrooms, but there is always water in the warm months
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....
