Heinolator Cook System, 7.9oz. FRESH Coffee!

I call this the "Heinolator" it is a percolator I made this weekend.
Everything besides my spoon now nests inside the protective plastic cup.
This cook system includes priming pan, stove, pot stand, wind screen, "heinolator", Dr. Bonner's, and a dish rag.
Right now I can make 1 1/2 cups of coffee. I think I will be able to get it to the point where I can make 2 cups.
I haven't made any cozies for it yet though.
Works very well.

Sometimes I think I have so many hobbies just so I can "tinker" with the gear and such that I use for those hobbies.

Rewarding feeling to manufacture and use a unique creation.

I have a somewhat related question. Where'd you find your storage container? All I've found are the Ziploc brand which don't fit. Thought I found something at the dollar store but it's a hair too short and the lid doesn't go on with the pot inside.

I would have to go look at it, but I found it at hannafords. The name starts with an S and is a very common manufacturer, surefine or something like that?
I bought the zip locks as well. I could get the zip lock lid on, but not really. This one is JUST a touch taller and the lid bows with a full-size can in it. I have the lid inverted for nesting, so there is room for my pack towel too. Even better this one is lighter than the ziplock container, by .1 to .2oz as I recall.

Another option I looked at would be a peanut butter type jar. These are very tough. I have abused peanut butter jars around that are 20+ years old. Not that I'm expecting the plastic to biodegrade or anything.

I'm surprised how few coffee lovers are posting up? Am I the only hiker that drinks the brew?

Kroger and Ingles. Generic brand.

Thx. Unfortunately all of the Krogers here closed and we've never had Ingles. I'll take another run and see what I can find. I don't think I saw them at Publix and I haven't checked Winn-Dixie yet.

IF you made a top from one can, and kept the rim from the pot-can, it wouldn't fit. If you used the lid from the same can you use for the pot (IE original height) it will work fine. You CAN'T bend up the tab either, just hold it up put a string under it and then tie it off.

Ok, I'll check for that brand. I'm using the original lid off the can and I do already use just a string to the tab.

Add o-ring to base of stem above the bottom can to keep it from slipping through under weight. The friction fit fades after a bit.

No the black specks on the side are not grinds, just drops of coffee. It does a better job at keeping the grinds out than my daily used electric perk. Can you hear the cop coming for the retard to decided to drive into a snow bank for no reason next door? It made me lol - neighbor pulled him out with his tractor shortly after.

1 standard coffee scoop of Folger's regular
1 1/2 cups water
NOTE time when it starts to perk
wait 5 minutes
Trail-worthy Nitro-Coffee is yours! Clean out the Heinolator while still warm/hot, there's lot of little nooks in there to get grungy!
