Cool LOOKING FOR A 2013 Thru Hike BUDDY (NOBO)

I have done several hikes and I have done plenty of research on the AT. I would love to start the hike in March and just go at a nice 5 to 6 month pace. I watched this great movie called SOUTHBOUNDER and it seems like hiking with company is the way to go, but I also believe in the HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE motto. Safety is my concern, first and foremost, so this is my reason for wanting a partner to hike with.
About me: Im 37 years old in good shape ex-marine and I was raised in the mountains of WV so hiking is 2nd nature to me. If you would like a hike buddy then feel free to contact me, the longer we talk and plan the more we make this happen. TO ALL WHO READ THIS.....good luck in your travels and be safe... JASON!!

    2013. It's getting closer, ain't it?

You won't be alone very much early on with most March starts. I may start in early March or late Feb. I will be hiking solo, to the extent of how far I go each day, and won't be looking for a partner before hand. IMO, you will find plenty of partners by sheer accident.

Hope to see ya out there.

If you start in March you'll be in plenty of good company.

I started my AT hike "solo". I never really hiked by myself. People have a way of gravitating towards their trail peers and forming an ad hoc trail community. One of the best parts of something like the AT in my opinion.

Semper Fi -------- Hope to see you along the way---- I will be starting March 15 if all goes well. What I have read and the few sections I have been on, I think you'll have a great time and meet amazing people.

"Semper Fi" I will also be starting in March although ahead of SMAN he will probably catch up with me. I am going to try and get 8 to 10 miles per day to start and hopefully increase it along the way. I had foot surgery on both feet November 2011 and am presently doing around 10 on flat surfaces.
I start out the Day with nothing and by the end of the Day I still have most of it.

Semper Fi - Will do NOBO starting March 2. Never done any part of the AT as I am from Texas so never hiked on East coast. Retire Jan 1 and looking forward to turning the world off for a six month hike after living the fast paced corporate world for 29 years. Hope to see you there.

Comment - there are no ex-marines. Once a marine ALWAYS a marine. There are only former marines.

I'm planning on starting the trail mid march and cant find anybody that wants to do it with me or can take off work long enough. I'm 28 year old guy from Thomasville, Ga. I just recently moved back home from Destin, Florida to prepare for my next adventure. I understand plenty of people will be on the trail but i prefer to find someone to start the travel with. I am not the most experience hiker but I'm slowly preparing myself and always up for a challenge. Shoot me an email at colinthacker@rocketmail.com if you are interested or just add me on facebook.
