Default for those of you in need of a great...

lightweight coat for winter/cold weather hiking....Land's End has their down coat now for about $60 with coupon and free shipping. I took one on my thru hike in '10 and thought it was maybe the best piece of gear I bought value-wise.Went with me the whole way as I carried a pillowcase... The coat in the pillowcase was great at night as a pillow. I am not a gear head by any means but liked this coat so much that I thought I would post this. Found this deal while searching for some new L/S casual shirts.

I highly recommend the Mont Bell Thermawrap and Eldo jackets. Very lightweight puffy jackets that pack small and go to low temps. The Thermawrap weighs in at 9 oz and the Eldo weighs in at 12 oz. They run around $130 bucks, though I did find my Eldo for $80.

REI has a similar deal right now on their REI-Outlet site.
