Found a product called Fish Jerky at a "Russian Store". It's little salted and dried fishs double vacum packed in 5oz packs. I think they are common at these kinds of stores. Cost about 5 bucks.
Should be able to use these fish all kinds of ways.

Yes hikerboy57, it's delish if you like fish. I got 5 packs and have tried the "Big Eyed Snapper" and "Crstal Fish". It's chewey like beef jerky and very salty. I diced some up and boiled it with rice and some other stuff I got there called Wasabi. I liked it and will make it a regular item just to have something different and because I like fish.
might give it a try, found some websites to buy on line. also found this video on how to make it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnfjFd9A3CI

I've gotten marlin jerky in Hawaii a couple of times; good stuff.

I am not sure you can call it Jerky because its not soaked in a acid - its salted... Hey if you like it thats great.

Every time I ever tried to dry fish I had trouble with it falling apart into flakes and crumbs. The thing about this dry fish I found is that it is made from little fishs and has the skin still attached to it. That seems to keep it from falling apart. Also, there is no spices and so it just taste like fish. When I mix it with rice and dried veggies I add the spices I want.
Nothing like old Bay rubbed in.

I tried to smoke fish once, but it wouldn't stay lit.

Fiddlehead should be able to add to this thread. The dried fish, squid, God-only-knows-what stuff that exists in Thailand is awesome. I usually order several packages when family comes back to the US.
Dried cuttlefish is my fave.....
