Thread: How is my Load?

  1. #1

    Default How is my Load?

I am prepping for a summertime trek and am looking for advise on my equipment choices. I weigh about 150 pounds and am looking to do about 20 to 25 miles per day.

    Pack - Gregory Denali Pro 105 - 7# 12oz
    Tent - Bibler Tempest 7# 3oz
    Sleeping Bag - Kelty Cosmic Synthetic 0 Degree - 5# 1oz
    Sleeping Pad - Therm-a-rest Dreamtime XL - 7# 15oz
    Stove - Campfires
Cookset - MSR Alpine Cookset 26oz
Utensil - Titanium Spork 1oz (Gotta save some weight)
Water - MSR 10 Liter Dromedary Bag (Only Half Full as I will be besides a creek) 8#
    Food - Pellet Gun 1# + 2oz Salt & Pepper
Clothing - About 10# not including what I have on
Technology - $10 roll of quarters for the pay phones
Maps - The phone books at the pay phones usually have them in the first section

Total Pack Weight is around 65# + What ever game I have to carry with me.

Only serious advise please. I watched the TV show "Preppers" so I know what I'm doing!

You need 6-8 full rolls of TP, some dried fish, and more water.

I will be next to a creek which covers TP, fish and water!

What about a "Rambo" knife and maybe a climbing rope?

Could not list everything for operational security. But I got that! Would a 300' coil of 11mm static line be enough?

I think you put more research and planning into this list than I did when I put together my actual three season gear.

Did it twice. I forgot to have my login remember me and lost the first draft. But I can't put in enough planning for the coming apocalypse.

Do not forget a gallon freezer ziplock bag of Viagra tablets and a paracord survival bracelet-- just in case you need a tourniquet.

    Cheers!

...Um... Where exactly do you think this tourniquet is going to be applied?...

It would be for after 4 hours and you are still 10 miles from a doctor?

might want to bring that snakebite kit.and im sorry but i dont see that rambo knife doing double duty, you're gonna need that ax(to amputate when you find out the snakebite kit was useless.)
might want to bring jenga for the downtime.

I think your choices are great except for the spork. Save some weight and get a plastic spoon from a fast food place. What are you thinking?

Between walking 25 miles, hunting big game with a pellet gun and being bitten by snakes I don't think I can justify the time or weight of Jenga. But I will take the ax.

As long as you take the axe, you can make your own Jenga if you decide you need it.
