good swimming spots between route 4 and route 15?

other than duck brook i haven't heard of any other good swimming spots between route 4 and route 15 to relax for a day,if anybody has any recommendations of even mediocre swimming holes it would be greatly appreciated.im a newbie to LT.

Sterling Pond is an obvious swimming hole, but be prepared for a bit of "shrinkage" due to the refreshing water temperature. Lake Pliead is another nice little stop perhaps 400 yards off the trail. Never swam there, but could have.

You can swim in the pond below Middlebury Ski bowl - just south of Route 125 toward Hancock,VT -- further north, Duck Brook is a good spot but they will soon be routing the trail away from Duck Brook Shelter in order to get rid of the Duxbury Road walk and the Winooski River crossing at Jonesville. I actually stumbled through the weird grassy bogs at the other side of Duxbury Road and skinny dipped in the Winooski which in hindsight was fun but a pretty big hassle - by the time I waded back through the sand and muck to join my friends road-walking to Jonesville, I didn't feel completely refreshed like I thought I would.

That reroute is still a year or two away, but the new bridge should be awsome.

Huntington Gorge just off the road walk to Jonesville on Dugway Rd. Can be a great place to spend a day, however you need to be careful. I think over 20 swimmers and one police officer have died there over the years. Dangerous current and hydraulics in high water and dangerous unseen submerged rocks in the holes during low water....but it is beautiful.

If you want to make a short hitch the Bolton Potholes on the Bolton Access rd are great swimming and worth the detour if you have time. Large, deep, and clear with some good jumps though there is a bit of trash problem due to easy road access.

Just remember some of those ponds have leeches so be quick!

Not too far down Rt. 108 from where the LT crosses, there are some decent spots to take a dip. Also, in Nebraska Notch, if you bushwhack down Clay Brook (toward the Underhill side of the notch) there are some nice little waterfalls and holes.

Oh, yeah. Good one! Poke around downstream of the LT crossing. There are some nice potholes.
