we should only need resupply, shower and laundry at a hostel stop. you have your shelter and woods for everything else. i don't understand how any of hostel owners deal with these prima donnas'. the owners should all go on strike for a year and hike the trail
i was the only one there Jan '09 and Curtis and Rockhound treated me great, but as i posted on post#2 even the lone hiker before me was demanding.
and for sddavis, lets put out the word up the trail to other hostel owners "he should keep walking"
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Wak tells me some stories of the glory days before all these places were up and hikers, including myself, had it so easy. Hiking the AT isn't as big of a deal or original or as cool as it used to be.

Yeah, I'm section hiking the AT to see it, but the lure of a thru hike has diminished. I'll probably head out for the PCT for my long Thru once I semi retire in a couple of years. Before it too is killed with kindness - seems to be on it's way. CDT? perhaps. Otherwise, some of the shorter trails are beckoning, CT and Tahoe Rim to name two. Too many great trails to re-hike the same one too much.

Times certainly are different. Lots of whinners. Lots of spoiled people. Lots of half steppers.
Also an awful lot of talking over matters that don't amount to a hill of beans.

Can we please get a "Like" button?! Good for you Lone Wolf. Nothing spoils a hike faster than the presence of arrogant drunken druggies who think it's the rest of us that aren't "having fun."
