    Default Laurel Creek footbridge

I saw this in my 2010 AT Companion:
    "
    Laurel Creek footbridge closure:
Located at Va. 615, 6.9 miles south of U.S. 21/52 nearBastian, Va., the A.T. footbridge across Laurel Creek is closed for repairs. Hikersmay ford the creek or follow a blue-blazed trail that leads to/from an alternate crossingon Va. 615. Signs have been posted to direct hikers onto the temporary route.Note that the formerly blue-blazed high-water route just south of Va. 615 has beenchanged to white-blazed. The formerly white-blazed route along Little Wolf Creek
has been repainted blue. This route change may be temporary."

    Any update on this bridge?

Bumpity bump bump. I would like to know this information as well for an upcoming trip. Thanks.
Some people take the straight and narrow. Others the road less traveled. I just cut through the woods.

The span has been fixed and is passable.

You're welcome! The bridge was originally a Bus chassis! Then it got a super-duper level-up with a bridge that won the USFS award for primitive tech but it washed out sooooo...the TEHCC were like BAM! fixed! and now its fixed. I think its schedled to be repaired using the traditional method over the next few years, but no plans yet.
