Remember to take care not just for yourself, but for your fellow hikers too! Being sick while hiking is never fun, and courtesy should be extended to your fellow hikers, especially if you're sharing a shelter.

I went down ill early in my hike, I left Springer Mnt. on Mar 18th and I came down with the symptoms described in the above notice around Mar 23rd, I believe it was from contact, hand shaking, sitting in the shelters and caring for a sick hiker. I would recommend to all hikers to follow the above very simple instructions listed above. That way you won't your zero days tending to a illness. Have a great hike....Now off the trail, Tic-Toc

One of the suggestions I have is that everyone politely decline to allow anyone to stick his/her hands into your gorp or other ziplock or to sample a taste of your food.
Besides keeping your own hands clean, using the same sanitary procedures you take in your own kitchen will help keep you healthy on the Trail.

Is this post still relevant? How much damage will the late fall/winter weather do to this virus?

I don't know that the same virus is involved, but there is currently widespread flu in 48 states, and it's a strain that is not prevented by flu vaccine.
