Whoopie Sling Suspension vs. adjustable webbing suspension WBBB

What's all the hype about the whoopie slings? Are they lighter and/or super easy to set up? I mean the adjustable webbing suspension on my WBBB 1.1 dl is pretty easy to 'set up' as in tie around a tree (i always have to tweak the pitch anyway). So what is it? How light are they or in the set up that mind blowingly better?

you will save a few oz's. ive been using webbing since '08. ive tried whoopies and some of my hammocks still have them, but for me i like my DIY hammock with descending rings and 12' straps w/dutch clips. setup is about the same, but whoopies are a little harder with mittens on.

I don't get whoopies either. I have them on one of my hammocks. It's not like the adjustable webbing straps on the BB are hard to adjust or anything.

I've tried both and have decided I like either the descender rings or cinch buckles, with cinch buckles being my overall favorite. I think the cinch buckles are a bit more secure and I find them a tad easier to release the strap. For me there are just too many parts within the whoopie system although they do sell an all in one totally connected system. I also find them more difficult to adjust when your hammock is loaded with sleeping bag etc. In sum the buckles and/or rings are just more simple to use IMHO. The weight savings is almost a wash.
