Default Callus/Blister on ball of foot

Hello everybody, I tried asking about this earlier but it was a wordy and scattered post which is probably why I didn't get much of a response I wore my NB minimus on a 4 day section hike. On day 2, spots formed on the balls of my feet. It looked like a blister over a callus. Only one foot developed the blister, but they both had the callus thing. When the blister was drained (day 3) the two spots hurt very bad when pressure was applied. For 2 days after my hike it was painful when I walked (to the point I couldn't really walk for a whole day after the hike) then on the third morning after my hike the pain was completely gone and two circles were left on my foot (now gone).

The pain wasn't like a blister pain, it was much much worse, which is why I am trying to figure out if it was something more. Also, the two spots looked more like calluses. What would cause this? Any ideas? Figured this was worth another shot..month long section hike in July, rather not have to deal with this

I have run about 35 miles a week in the Minimus for some time now. My feet have been fine..but then again running and hiking with a 30lb pack are very different.

i get stuff like this all the time. no real idea what it is but morton's neuroma is the closest common description ive found, at least in terms of how it feels, if not how my foot looks.

I'd recommend a good pair of hiking boots.

I read about mortons neuroma after i posted this..seems to be a good possibility. Im going to switch to some normal trail runners and sock liners and hope that helps!

I'm not a footdoctor but you may be over pronating with the ul shoes and weight on your back. I tend to have the same problem on one foot and not the other. Mine is a burning sensation and it never goes away no matter how much callus I build up. I now use inserts in my trail runners and that helps the problem. I'm not sure inserts will work in mini shoes you are wearing.

Well I have low arches and wide feet but I actually under pronate (while running that is) but thinking back to hiking on uphills i focus all my weight on the balls of my feet. Possibly that combined with no rock plate and no cushion could have given me these sores. Should the 'factory' insoles be replaced in new trail runners? Im wondering if i explain all this to the guys at new balance if they will actually be able to help.
