    Just do it. I've hiked the AT for two years now and will continue to hike it until I kneel on Katahdin. I have yet to have a problem. In fact each time I have found that hikers look out for each other. I'm a mom of a 23 year old and I would die if he did it, but that's because I'm a mom. We worry about everything. But I would enjoy every minute of hearing him recount his experience. You'll be fine.

    You're a good man, I'm with ye and as they say it's better be judged by 12 than carried by 6. But many women are not comfortable in the men's ways of "being proactive". Yours is still a good advise to those who can take it. Be well
