    I'm thinking about umbrellas too
Sometime before summer is over I'm going to figure out a way to quickly attach and detach an umbrella to the frame of my Tioga
I'll post the results of my efforts

Walmart, any joblot type store has Umbrellas that have a clamp that you afix to a lounge chair, they are not full size umbrellas. I've never done it, but your post made me immediately think of it!

My buddy has been using an umbrella for 30 years and loves it. Just puts his one pole in the pack and carrys the darn thing, which helps avoid the low hanging branches and sideways driven rain.

$12 Tyvek jump suit with hood at Lowes. Cut off pants section. Top makes a 2.7 oz rain jacket.

Default How about a MYOG Cuben fiber or a Zpacks breathable Cuben fiber.

I like to have a cuben rain jacket for heavy storms. Then when it gets hot I just use my Liberty ridge hooded wind shirt. The Cuben weighs 3.18 oz the wind shirt 1.98. I believe zpacks is about 5 oz.
