Mass, a bunch. Section between Rt 2 and the VT border a bunch more maintaining--like Monkeywrench, I'm starting to give the rocks names. Headed out there this afternoon, in fact.

Springer to Woody seven times. Standing Indian Loop at least 4 times. Both are tied for my favorites. Did Winding Stair to the NOC 3 times. These sections are very close to my house and I love getting out as often as possible. The SI Loop is the easiest to do with little or no planning (shuttles) needed.

Do you find it as disheartening as I do to be clipping some of that damned hobblebush and see the marks where you clipped the same stem last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, ad infinitum?

I kind of like it, the whole circle-of-life thing. In my section, I knock it back pretty hard every couple of years, then it's just a matter of clipping the younger shoots fairly regularly. I have a pair of hedge clippers with about 3 foot long handles--very handy, and easy to clip stuff close to the ground.

There are so many miles and so many mountains between here and there that it is hardly worth thinking about
