    Default Missing Hiker/Brother

Hello all. I live in North Central Florida and my brother who is from PA is an avid hiker/back packer who has hiked/backpacked/camped all across our country, chiefly up and down the east coast, sections of the AT and Florida Trai. His home base is Philadelphia, PA. He always hikes with his dog, a Shepherd/Lab/Husky mix named Wesley who is about 60 lbs, tan with a black mask to his face. John was last seen at my place in FL on June 14, 2012. He left here that day headed home to Phila., PA and was to meet our niece there on Sat. 6/16 to pick up her dog. He never arrived and has not been seen since. He is known to spontaneously stop places and go off hiking so we're networking some hiking sites to see if anyone has seen him. I have photos of him, just need to figure out how to post them here. He goes by the trail name of jpamusher and has also used RunsWithDogs. I'll see if I can add a photo of he and his dog as my profile photo. Thanks and please share. If seen ask him to contact his family ASAP and tell him a Missing Person's report has been filed with the Phila. Police. Thanks again.

Bump ... Thank you so much Shelb... I'm new to this site so appreciate any help/advice on keeping the news out there. We're talking to the Detective who's handling the Missing Person's report on him today so hope to have some news later on. Still missing. Dog has a microchip and veterinarian has been notified and will all me if Wesley (dog) is found.

By car.. a silver Subaru Outback Sport with PA License "IDITROD" and multiple bumper stickers from Alaska, Dog Mushing, on the hatch. Front of the car has an Alaska plate that reads "DOGSTER". Vehicle is from/registered in PA. He has an inflatable raft with him, all his camping gear (tent, etc.). Cellphone was disabled permanently by immersion in the FL Keys while rafting.

John & his dog Wesley are home safe & sound. They went walkabout in the Outer Banks of NC and didn't think anyone would worry. Thank you all for the caring, support and watchful eyes. Safe Trails to you all.
    Sincerely

That would make a great mock Lassie episode.

Sablemare - Glad your brother's OK. Hope he gets a new cell phone soon. Happy trails to you both.

...And people wonder why cops don't put missing persons cases on a very high priority.

That is a mean spirited statement John. I do not blame anyone for filing a missing person's report when they believe it is necessary. I also do not agree the police take the filings lightly. They evaluate the situation and act accordingl, some emergencies and some more of a wait and see. I for one would rather have the police resources used trying to find a person's loved one and foregoing giving a traffic ticket if they had to make a choice.

Glad everything worked out for your family Sablemare
