Reliable water sources in VA?

I'm planning a section hike from Waynesboro to Damascus this August. I've heard that some of the springs in the area can be unreliable, particularly this year since we didn't have much of a winter. I'm hiking with my german shepherd, so I carry a lot of extra water and need to plan carefully for his needs as well as mine. Does anyone have any input about the reliability of water in this area in late summer? Thanks!

Hiked Damascus to Pearisburg in mid June and had no problems with water. Some of the springs were flowing a bit slow, but most sources were flowing nicely. From what I understand, they have been getting good rain lately. Hve a great trip!
