    Default smokies shelters

Fontana to Davenport thru the smokies

What shelters are best to stay at, or avoid? Im thinking to plan for 6 days, and probably do ~23 the last day (skip the shelter Ill have reservations at if weather is good) and finish in 5.

Bear activity reported at Cosby, Derricks, and Russell Field, prudent to avoid?

I hate having to plan to stay at shelters.

Made reservations for my begining of August trip today abd was told that Crosby is now open again.

I personally don't mind staying near shelters, I would just rather be in my tent than "in the shelter".

Cosby is open and they supposedly relocated the aggressive bear. But, still have warnings up. Wed rather tent too. But real aggravatin is having a fixed "schedule" for several days, irrespective of weather.

Just did the Smokies two weeks ago. Stayed at Mollies Ridge, Silers Bald, Icewater Spring, and Tri-Corner Knob Shelters. All were very nice. Stopped for water at Spence Field - it is in a pretty spot.
