    Lone Wolf,

    I don't believe anyone is blaming the hiker for any of this. If he wants to walk around at 1:00 a.m., well that is his right to do so. I'm sure you know as well as myself, the papers/news reports never get the whole story right. I hope they catch the dirt bags that did this. I would like to know more of the details that go along with what happen.

    Just out of Hot Springs I went to the next shelter (10 more m in the dark) to elude a couple of drunk locals that followed me up the trail. I would rather keep company with rattlers, bears and mountain lions rather than some people, they're to unpredictable!!

    The line between blaming the victim and suggesting how to avoid trouble is fuzzy. Any of us could be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    i disagree im one of those sit in the corner and not say much kind of people i dont say much but i hear and see everything.people are not unpredictable the signs are there to see just like bear dung.You need to pay attention to that gut instinct and not keep explaining it away so you dont have to act, or stop doing what is enjoyable at the time.humans think they are so far advanced, but we are all just animals with no long term survival instincts.we take without asking then we loose intrist and discard it without a care.we justify our own greed,cultivate our lust,and defile everything we see for our own sick entertainment.humans in short are a planet destroying bacteria that wont quit consuming until everything is gone doesnt matter if wer are already full we keep devowering things just so others can not have what we have.people have said the world has gotten so evil,it hasnt the increased population has made evil more concentrated so a little makes more of an impact.do i think humans have a chance? no we are already screwed we are just to dumb to see we have already killed ourselves years ago.hell we are all dieing from our own laziness.we look at learning as a punishment,nature as a resource ,and our fellow man as a stepping stone.everything in nature seeks a balance and we are way out of balance. the way nature will make thing seek a new balance is in the radication of what offends her.That my friends is the removal of the population.get ready and hang on theres a new mother nature takin over shes getting us all.

    And yet it is obvious that Caboose did follow his instincts and kept on hiking. No disrespect intended, but there would be more validity to your argument that "we look at learning as a punishment" if there were not so many spelling and punctuation errors.

    Ya beat me to it.. I was just looking for the same thing - how tough is it to find an older small blue car with the occupants in that town?

    nuts.. the police spend more time looking for Michael.

    There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
    He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
    Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl.
