water reports
its been blistering hot this summer, and the mid atlantic up thru mass is pretty dry right now. m heading to maine next month, and id like to know how the water is up there, but i think it would be a good idea for us to post reports wherever possible to help the guys out on the trail.
hows the water in your neck of the woods?

My local haunts are bone dry, the other day on a hike, I notice the trail bed was cracking in muddy areas, the flowers were almost non-existent, except for the hardiest weeds and plants, it was as if the trees were sucking every bit of moisture out of the Forrest floor, just to get a drink.
The land is so dry, the drought needs a drink
I'd get it for him, but there's none in the sink
none in the ponds, the creeks are all dry
I hope it rains soon, cause I can't afford to cry

Im glad I got my thru hike in last year. Here in Indiana Ive experienced the hottest temps that I can remember. And theres been little to no rain so the drought is making things worse.

It's raining in Southern Connecticut right now, barely. thunder & lightning more than rain.

I hiked a small AT section in NH 2 weekends ago, stayed at the Guyot camp. The spring there was running fine.

The last two weeks I've been on a section hike sobo from Harper's Ferry. I'm in Glasgow now and water has been good the whole way. Some of the small streams have dried up but all of the shelter water sour es have been good. Recent rain should keep the water table up - although some of the thunderstorms are pretty localized.
