    Default Water sources

I am planning on do a small section from whitetop mt to the hurricane mt shelter. I normally only carry about half a days worth of water and just wondering how frequent water sources are in this area. Also if the dry weather this summer has affected them?

I wish I could help you out with that info but I can tell you that things are really dry way north of there into Central VA.

Yes, that's prob. a wise thing to do unless someone else on here knows the water situation first hand. I can see exactly where you will be hiking in my book. My book says there is a reliable spring near Wise Shelter. That's 11 miles from Whitetop Mt. where you will be starting.. well, I hope the water situation won't be a problem for you. Have a great hike!
