    30 miles from Winding Stair Gap N.C, or 45 from N.O.C, 40 from stecoah Gap or 45 from Fontana Dam, 82 from Springer MT.

    mileage varies as does road conditions, but it takes about 3 hours to reach the trail in either CT, MA, VT or NH. For being a state along which the Appalachians "brush", we're inconveniently located.

    Im about 10 minutes from...but within 20 minutes from about a half dozen AT trail crossings in 2 states

    About 2252 miles.. If I begin walking now, I could make it in time to start my 2014 hike in April with plenty of stops along the way. Ha. How's that for an "Approach" hike? Are any of you doing the Approach trail? I'm still debating that in my head. 605 stair steps isn't encouraging me.
