Moved from Ohio, now about 50 miles from AT in Maidens VA.
There are so many miles and so many mountains between here and there that it is hardly worth thinking about
Too far, 130 miles.
I'm about 60 miles.. just drive up to I-89 exit 18 and follow route 120 to the Hanover Coop. Bang, I'm on the AT!
30 miles to Delaware Water Gap.
About 5-6 hours from the closest AT crossing
35-40 min from the Approach Trail

I live in Rancho Cordova, CA so I figured the distance between there and Hot Springs, NC, which is approx. 2,519 miles.
About 5 miles from Uncle Johnny's , Erwin, Tn.
about 43 miles straight north to the Hoyt Rd crossing at the NY/CT state line. It's possible its closer if i head due west but I'll tell you once I finish CT and start driving to NY sections regularly next year
187 miles to Springer Mt, not as close as I would like.
I live 232 miles from Springer Mountain. :-(
About a quarter mile walking through the woods. A mile or so if I drive down the hill into Hot Springs NC. :-)
As the crow flies, 11 miles from just north of Mt. Oglethorpe to Springer Mountain. By road via FS 42, 28 miles, 45 minutes.
I live 754 miles from Springer Mtn. and 1,892 miles from Katahdin.
I wish I could answer this question but I don't live anywhere but I do live everywhere. Today is Ohio yesterday was North Carolina and tomorrow is New York City. At least once a week I'm crossing the Appalachian Trail and it kills me that I can't stop to stretch my legs. There are too many days between now and March when I can finally turn this truck off and live.
Be safe brother. I got out from behind the steering wheel 2 years ago and now hold down a desk in the safety & DOT compliance office for a big carrier. Still trying to figure out how to talk my boss (and his boss) into letting me take a leave of absence in the spring of 2016 for a thru-hike.
As I stated in a previous post I live 80 miles from were the AT crosses the Del Water Gap, however I just reserved my favorite campsite at the Worthington campground for deer season, so for at least 10 days a year I live 3.5 miles from the AT and sunfish pond. I will make the trip to sunfish pond at least once, have lunch under the catfish fire tower, and cross the AT more times then I want to count. best 10 days of the year!
