Default parking at crossings

Has anyone parked at Iron Mountain Gap, or on 19? Is it safe to do or do I risk a broken windshield? Thanks

Default Don't take a chance

I've seen some cars there when I was dropped off this year and last year but there's no way that I'll ever park a vehicle on a highway. Iv'e heard too many sad stories over the past few years.

When I hiked north I got a shuttle out of Damascus and when I went south I used one out of Hot Springs.

I have parked at 19W (Spivey Gap) twice without incident, Iron Mountain Gap once without incident, and Mountain Harbour B&B ($5 per day charge) off 19E. This was all within the last year.

19E definitely park at Mountain Harbour Inn, or continue on to Hampton to Braemar or Kincora. As for Iron Mtn Gap, I known a few people to park there without incident. But I wouldn't except for day hikes. Either call Greasy Creek Friendly or Johnny's for parking and shuttles.
