I recently aquired some 60" wide beautiful blue rayon for $0.88/yard. It is nice and thin and soft, and I was thinking of making bag liners out of it. However, in researching its properties, I have found that it has high moisture absorbency and retention, likes to grow mold in warm humid conditions, and loses 40% of its strength when wet.
Would you all agree that I should keep looking for bag liner material? What materials do you make your bag liners out of? What do you consider to be the most important properties? thanks!

for winter/late fall/early spring why not a VBL.....Wanderlust sells the 'whole body' model for $25. It is all sil-nyl and mine doubles as my pack liner...clean bag, more degree rating, all for little ounces.....
I used silk bag liner on the six day hike on Isle Royale and loved it/needed it/ probably would have been miserable without it since I was using a Rab Top Bag and without it every time you move a gasp of cold air would hit the skin... |
